When you've finished reading, you'll know if paint chip epoxy is the floor coating you're looking for.

Pros Of Paint Chip Epoxy Garage Floors

There are numerous benefits to using paint chip epoxy for your garage. It's one of our most popular epoxy options for a reason! Paint chip is easy to clean, relatively affordable, and makes for a nice garage refresh. But don't take our word for it. Let's dive in!

1. Paint Chip Is Easy To Clean.

Paint chip epoxy floors are easy to clean. Unless anti-skid is added to the epoxy, paint chip floors are smooth. A smooth floor is simpler to clean because there aren't any ridges or bumps for dirt to get caught in. Anti-skid is not required, but if added, it will take away some of the ease of cleaning.

You also don't need any fancy cleaners for a paint chip floor. You'll clean your garage floor just like any other floor in your home.

2. Paint Chip Refreshes Your Garage Appearance.

Many garage floors are stale and old-looking. The concrete might be cracked or have some stains and spills. Ugly concrete isn't a concern until you host your family or a holiday event. Sometimes, these gatherings spill over into the garage. Or, maybe you want to sell your home. Ugly concrete can be an eyesore.

A paint chip epoxy floor will refresh your concrete and the whole garage space. Depending on the size of the paint chips you choose, the floor could even look like carpet.

3. Paint Chip Can Repair Concrete & Make It Pretty.

Repouring isn't always an option when your concrete has cracks or pitting. It might be inconvenient or too expensive. Many concrete repairs aren't nice looking. And in our experience, a nice-looking repair fails over time.

Paint chip epoxy can repair concrete and address any cracks or pitting. It also has a nice finish and shouldn't fail.

4. Paint Chip Is A More Affordable Epoxy Solution.

Paint chip epoxy is an affordable epoxy choice. Our price ranges for garages are as follows:

  • One-car garage: $10 - $12 per square foot
  • Two-car garage: $8 - $9 per square foot
  • Three-car garage: $7 per square foot

In many ways, paint chip epoxy perfectly balances money spent and product result. The floors are beautiful, durable, and easy to clean. Compared to other types of epoxy, paint chip is more affordable.

Cons Of Paint Chip Epoxy Garage Floors

As wonderful as paint chip epoxy can be, there are a few drawbacks to be aware of. You should consider these restrictions and features of paint chip before committing to this type of epoxy for your refresh.

1. Paint Chip Can Be Slippery.

While paint chip is easy to clean, it can also be slippery. Any type of flooring that is easy to clean will be slippery. To make the floor less slippery, anti-skid must be added. However, anti-skid will make the floor more difficult to clean.

Every grain that helps a shoe grip the floor makes a place for dirt to catch when sweeping.

2. Paint Chip Does Not Prevent Cracks From Coming Through The Coating.

If your concrete has been heavily damaged, repairs can be made. After repairs, the concrete can be coated with paint chip epoxy. However, paint chip epoxy won't hold the floor together. If what caused the cracks in the first place is not finished, it is possible to see some cracks return over time.

3. Paint Chip May Need To Be Protected In Special Circumstances.

If you have any special uses for your garage, you may want to cover your paint chip floors to protect them from damage.

Your paint chip will not need to be covered for typical garage use. It will not sustain any damage from your vehicle's tire treads.

Some special uses of your garage floor could include:

  • Trolley jacks
  • Welding
  • Extreme high heat

Having a paint chip epoxy garage floor won't stop you from welding or work as an at-home mechanic. You'll just need to take precautions and cover the floor appropriately to protect it from high heat and extreme pressure.

4. Paint Chip Looks So Nice, You Might Not Want To Drive On It!

It may sound silly, but many of our customers delay using their garage again because they're so pleased with the outcome of their floor.

What To Know About Paint Chip Epoxy Garage Floors

Paint chip epoxy is our most popular option for garage floors. Customers love paint chip for its look, ease of cleaning, and affordability. It's an excellent choice for a refresh in your garage and can help cover damaged concrete after it's been repaired.

Paint chip isn't a perfect product. While it is easy to clean, that, in turn, means it can be slippery. Paint chip epoxy and any other coating cannot guarantee cracks won't come through the concrete. While paint chip is a long-lasting and durable coating, it should be covered if you plan to do any welding or at-home mechanic work.
