You'd like to get paint chip epoxy flooring somewhere in your home or business. Your basement, office, mudroom, or garage: somewhere, you have concrete you'd like to spruce up. What would it cost to get paint chip epoxy installed on your concrete?
Elite Floor Coatings installs a variety of epoxy coatings, including paint chip. While paint chip is most popular for garages, it is a versatile coating for any indoor concrete.
After reading, you'll know how much paint chip epoxy will likely cost you.
Paint Chip Epoxy Cost Per Square Foot
Paint chip epoxy costs between $6 and $12 per square foot. This range is broad, but it accounts for a variety of factors.
The most common application of paint chip is in a two-car garage, where it costs between $8 and $9 per square foot. The price can be lower than $8 per square foot in other applications. And for some projects, the cost can reach as high as $12 per square foot.
Factors Impacting Paint Chip Epoxy Floor Cost
So, what factors determine if you'll pay $7 or $11 per square foot? The four primary considerations are size, condition, accessibility, and location. Let's take a closer look.
How Accessible Is Your Concrete?
When our team installs paint chip epoxy, we use a grinding machine to cut through the top layer of the concrete. This 800-pound diamond grinding machine is quite large and heavy. When it is difficult, or impossible, to access your concrete with this machine, the cost of epoxy goes up.
Most garages have enough access to get the grinding machine inside easily. However, some indoor concrete, like basements, can't get this tool into the space. In these cases, we have to use smaller equipment, which takes more manpower and additional hours.
If your concrete is not easily accessed by our equipment, your paint chip epoxy will be more expensive.
What's The Condition Of The Floor?
The condition of your concrete will almost always factor into the cost of an epoxy coating. For paint chip epoxy, the concrete condition is certainly a factor influencing price. Here are some examples of damage to a concrete floor:
- Cracks
- Pitting
- Layers of paint
Any of these types of damage can be easily fixed. However, it will require time and material to fix the issues.
You can expect to pay more for your paint chip epoxy coating if your concrete is damaged.
How Expansive Is The Concrete?
The larger your concrete slab, the lower the cost per square foot. Some projects are quite small, like a one-car garage. These projects still require the equipment, travel time, and labor of a two-car garage. However, a one-car garage costs between $10 and $12 per square foot.
If you have a bigger job, you'll have a lower cost per square foot.
Where Is Your Job Located?
Elite Floor Coatings is headquartered in Chambersburg. We travel to other towns in southern Pennsylvania, plus some parts of Maryland and West Virginia. When a job is close to home, there's less travel time to account for.
Any time a job requires long drive times, the cost will increase. If you live far from the installer you plan to work with, you may pay a premium for their travel.
Does Your Concrete Hold Heat Well In The Winter?
Epoxy can be installed any time of year, but there are some considerations for wintertime. As temperatures dip, we sometimes need to warm up a space before installing the epoxy.
If you want your concrete to be coated with paint chip epoxy in the winter, we'll need to know if the concrete holds heat well. If you have a poorly sealed, uninsulated garage, there might be an increase in cost as we bring heat into the space.
What To Know About Paint Chip Epoxy Costs
Paint chip epoxy is one of the more affordable epoxy floorings. Costs range between $6 and $12 per square foot. You can save money on the cost per square foot when your concrete is expansive, accessible, undamaged, and close to your installer.
When concrete is damaged, difficult to access, or small, it drives up costs.
